New Kid on The Block

Sixteen days, over 120 diapers, 3 packages of wipes, 20+ loads of laundry, over 50 middle of the night feedings, 3 trips to the pediatrician, 1 clogged tear duct, 3 minor mommy melt downs, a case of mastitis, and the entire extended version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy later .....and I've finally found the time and ambition to update our blog. Kevin and I have been slam dunked into the wonderful world of parenthood. So far we make quite the team.
I was induced on May 28th (delivered the 29th) because our baby's heart rate was dropping with my contractions during a non-stress test at the hospital. The staff told me I wasn't going home until the baby was out. The doctor strongly recommended a c-section, but after a blessing and many prayers, I was able to by-pass the c-section and our baby's heart rate never dropped again. Baby Bird arrived after about 12 hours of labor and only 30 minutes of pushing. He had the darndest cone head you ever did see, and the NICU team had to rush in to help him out at first, but he is doing amazing now. He is the spitting image of his daddy and we adore him already. He was 19 inches long and 6lbs 11oz at birth, and at his 2 week appointment he was 7lbs 11oz and 20.5 inches long. He is growing so fast- too fast!

He is darling!! He grew a lot in his first two weeks. Mine were usually barely back up to there birth weight at 2 weeks! I'm glad he's doing so well. I got mastitis after all of my kids. (Twice when Emily was a baby.) That is so painful! Hope to see you guys soon!

Wow Jess we really know how to give our babies the proper entrance in the world, bring on the drama. I had no idea you went through so much to get the little guy here safely. He is adorable! If you need anything at all please call me. I remember what it was like to have everyone go home and hubby go back to work and all of a sudden your doing it on your own. I'm a veteran so please use yout resources. I can't wait to see you and little Cory. Get some rest and enjoy, bevause you are right it goes way too fast.

What a cute little guy! Hope all is going well. That first one was the hardest adjustment for me. Getting out of the house; walks, drives, or having other mom's over for lunch, was the key to keeping the baby blues away. Lots of love and good luck! Keep the posts coming as you can. I'm sure he has changed already. :)
