....brings out the crafty in me.
I guess being cooped up in this house with 2 sick kids is what it takes for me to get in touch with "crafty Jess". I made these "advice cards" for a baby shower.Thursday, January 3, 2013
The Bird Has Landed
First thought I had when I woke up~ It feels like Christmas morning.
Today may have just been even better than Christmas. Kevin's brother Kelly, the youngest in his family, came home from a 2 year church mission in Cordoba, Argentina. He is finally home after sacrificing all that most 19 year-olds hold dear, in order to teach people about their Savior Jesus Christ.
We were able to be there when Kelly's Stake President released him from his calling to serve as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We were able to listen to Kelly bare his testimony in Spanish, and although I did not understand the words, I felt the power of what he said. It was very special and spiritual.

Our first glimpse of Elder Bird:
What a happy and emotional reunion.
Kelly with brother Michael and family
Cory has prayed for Kelly EVERY DAY. He always says, "Bless Kelly on his mission and bless President Monson on his mission."
The 5 siblings
Is it just me, or does Cory look like his Uncle Kelly?

Litte Boys Rock
Today has been a party at our house. Cory has a cousin and friend over to play. They are having so much fun. Kevin's work van died and they watched the tow truck haul it away.
.
Isn't my snot nose baby so cute! He had another hard night last night which meant lots of cuddle time with mama.
These goofy pictures speak for themselves. These 3 crack me up. You can see their little personalities. I said smile and this is what I got.

Happy 2013
Well the Bird House is full of sickies. Kevin and Mason succumbed. I've
shed a few tears watching my little Mason struggle with a bad cough.
He's having a harder time nursing and sleeping. I've spent hours just
holding him so he could sleep. It's been sweet but has left me feeling
haggard. I tried to start this new year off with a run and ended up
bailing after 2 miles. I HATE not finishing and it's going to be hard to
not be bitter about it all day. So here I am holding a sick sleeping
baby wearing workout clothes hoping to somehow salvage this day. Too
much time inside is a recipe for disaster for this mama.
On a happier note. I am the proud new owner of these fancy shoes ~ My second ever pair of running shoes.
I've been running in my 1st pair of shoes for like 2 years and since my right foot has started to go numb and my shins have been bugging me, I decided I wanted to invest my Christmas money into new kicks. My race is in 26 days. My mileage is up to 7 miles and I have felt amazing after all of my longer runs. Score.
I said good-bye to 2012 and howdy to 2013 by watching chick flicks. Kevin and I stayed up and rang in the new year by watching Message in a Bottle together. Now that's a tear jerker. I bought this 4 film combo for myself for Christmas.
I've made a slew of resolutions but I won't bore you with all of them. They can basically be represented by these 2 pictures. Less of this:

They will be replacing these little beauties.

Happy New Year ya'll!
Remnants of 2012
Making gingerbread houses is serious business.
Cory must want to help me lose some weight. He keeps chaining the fridge shut.
We did make it to see Santa. Mason wanted Santa's beard big time! It kinda grossed me out but Santa let Mason run his fingers through his silky white beard. (Insert throw up in my mouth here.)
Cory kept us on our toes with his antics. He is such a little comedian.
We read lots of Christmas books.
My little sickies
Cory brought this icicle to me the other day. Atleast he's enjoying this freezing weather. I am quite over it.
Happiest sick baby ever
Kevin has had a lot of time off and has enjoyed spotting wildlife behind our house.
